Putin: we will continue to support the resumption of direct dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis

The Russian President said after talks with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas in Sochi Thursday that the talks were “constructive and detailed” and took place in a friendly atmosphere, noting that Abbas discussed bilateral relations and the Middle East settlement and the most important issues in the region.

Putin stressed that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has only negotiated political solution on the basis of international law, stressing the importance of “maintaining bilateral relations and refrain from unilateral steps and cooperate in finding solutions satisfactory to both parties and against terrorism.”

For his part, the Russian presidential spokesman doesn “any details” about the timing of a possible meeting between Palestinian and Israeli leaders in Moscow.

The Palestinian leader said after talks with President Putin welcomed a tripartite meeting in Moscow, the Palestinian side was ready to participate in such a meeting.

Mention in this context that President Putin proposed in 2016 meeting between Abbas and Netanyahu in Moscow, the two leaders welcomed the initiative, but they prompted each responsibility not to hold such a meeting.
